DELAYS are expected after a lorry fire shut the A419 northbound between the A316 and the A4311 Cricklade Road this morning.
Traffic has been queueing since the closure began at 10.45am.
Firefighters from Stratton St Margaret Fire Station extinguished the burning lorry and shared pictures of the scene.
A spokesperson for National Highways South West said: “The A419 near Swindon remains closed northbound between A361 and A4311 due to a HGV fire.
“Wiltshire Police and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service are in attendance.”

A spokesperson for the Stratton fire station said in a tweet at 11.25am: "Both crews are in attendance at a lorry fire on the A419 northbound between Rat Trap and Dobbies.
“Currently down to one lane so please plan your journey as delays are expected."
Meanwhile one lane was also closed due to an accident on the A419 southbound at A420 Merlin Way, approaching the White Hart Roundabout.
Currently one lane still remains closed on the A419.
