ONE lane of the M4 remains closed after a lorry fire on the motorway this morning (Tuesday).
Avon Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at 2.15am, and two lanes of the westbound carriageway were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The fire happened between junctions 18 and 19 of the M4 westbound for Bath and Bristol.
Highways staff are currently doing "emergency resurfacing" work on the road.
Highways said in a Tweet: "Lane 1 will remain closed throughout the day due to damages to the carriageway and to facilitate barrier repairs.
"Carriageway resurfacing will be required and is being scheduled for later this evening.
"Traffic is currently flowing freely."
