FIRE crews are still on the scene tackling a blaze at a farm near Malmesbury.
Crews were called to Aqueton Farm on Creswell Lane, Lea at 3.20pm yesterday where they found a ten bay barn containing approximately 600 tonnes of hay and straw burning.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue said: “Initially three fire crews attended, from Chippenham, Westlea and Corsham, supported by a water carrier from Ramsbury which was later relieved by the carrier from Royal Wootton Bassett.
“We later dropped to a one crew watching brief, initially Malmesbury, then Stratton on night watch and Calne are there at the moment.
“Farm machinery has been used to move unaffected hay to a safe area and we will remain at the scene until such time as it has burned down enough for there to be no risk of fire spread.”
Reports on social media say there were no injuries and all livestock was unaffected amid an outpouring of support for the farm’s owners.
