A BLAZE in Lechlade which took almost two hours to extinguish destroyed two boats in the early hours of this morning.
At 5.20am Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Lechlade Marina after several people reported a fire on the river.
Rushing to the scene two teams of firefighters found that two boats, one around 15m long and one around 6m long, were both ablaze.
The teams from Fairford and Stratton spent almost two hours battling the fire with three hose reels and 5 sets of breathing apparatus but both were effectively destroyed by the flames.
Both boats were gutted by the fire and are now sitting on the bank close to where they previously floated.
