A COTSWOLDS village has come together to build a new community hall - replacing the old one which was built in 1948.
Villagers from Coln Valley worked through tough winter conditions, erecting the shell, putting in insulation and painting the hall to get it up to standard.
The Coln Valley village hall is situated between Coln Rogers and Winson and serves the five villages of Fossebridge, Coln St Dennis, Calcot, Coln Rogers and Winson.
After much hard work, the hall was finally finished in September but only two groups had a chance to use it before it was broken in to.
The hall closed for repairs but is now up and running again.
Nick Dummett, chairman of the hall’s management committee, said: “This hall is designed to bring together our community spread over five small villages and it is fantastic that we have already had such a positive reaction to the new hall.
There is every indication that it will be well used for local activities but we would also like to share this very unique opportunity to be in the depths of the countryside with people from outside the valley”.
As part of the project a website has been developed, complete with on-line booking facilities: www.coln-valley-village-hall.co.uk
