A YOUNGSTER from South Cerney is on cloud nine after scooping an acting award for her role in a Shakespeare play.
Meysey Hampton Primary School pupil, Lola Sánchez Farmar, aged 7, won the trophy for Best Actress award for playing Hermia in an adaption of Shakespeare's comedy play, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
She was given the award by Sky Blue Theatre, a theatre group which organised the performance at the school during the winter as part of its Shakespeare Rewired project.
As part of the project, Sky Blue Theatre visited schools across the country and helped youngsters stage performances of a selection of the famous playwright's plays and over 1000 youngsters took part.
Lola, who was one of 18 youngsters nominated for the award, said she was surprised when she heard that she had won the award.
She said: “I am really happy and I got really excited when I heard. I found it really fun.”
Emma Carden, head of of Meysey Hampton Primary School tipped Lola to acting success in the future.
“She will go on to bigger and better things, she has a great future ahead of her.”
Lola’s mother Rebecca Sánchez said: “I am very excited for her and she has loved drama and acting since she was tiny.”
She explained that Lola has ambitions to become an actor and follow in the footsteps of her aunt Charlotte Farmar, who is an up-and-coming actress in London.
