Pensioner assaulted by distraction burglar

AN ELDERLY woman was pushed to the floor when her home was targeted by distraction burglars on Sunday afternoon. (May 11).

The 86-year-old woman allowed two men claiming to be from the water board into her home in Culkerton just after 12pm.

When she spotted a third man in the house she challenged them and was pushed over.

The thieves left empty handed and luckily the woman was uninjured.

At the same time a neighbouring house in the village was broken into but nothing was stolen.

Police are keen to speak to anybody with regard to a silver Audi with false number plates spotted in the area. For more information call police on 0845 090 1234.
